Beyond templates

A template is a blank sheet. Your script already holds the answers.

Templates are filled in by hand. ScreenWeaver starts from the screenplay itself. Write it on the free Screenwriter plan, then on the Auteur plan ($39.99 a month, 6,000 credits) each scene is broken into shots and drawn as a storyboard that stays linked to the scene.

  • PDF and Final Draft (.fdx) export on the free plan
  • Storyboard generated from your script on the Auteur plan

FAQ

Questions about the templates

Are these filmmaking templates really free?
Yes. Every template on this page is free and has no paid tier. They are tools on the ScreenWeaver site, separate from the app's paid plans.
Do I need an account?
No. The templates run in your browser and you can export the result without signing up.
Which formats can I export?
It depends on the template. The title page, storyboard sheets, sides, lined script and cue sheet export to PDF. The breakdown checklist, scene cards, day out of days, page eighths and cue sheet export to CSV, which opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
Is my script uploaded when I use a template?
The templates that read a script, such as sides, lined script, page eighths and the French scene breakdown, process it in your browser. Their pages state that the script is not sent to a server.
Is there a call sheet or shot list template?
Not as a tool on this page. Our guides explain how to build a call sheet and a shot list from your script, step by step.
How is ScreenWeaver different from a template?
A template is a sheet you fill in. ScreenWeaver is a screenplay editor, free on the Screenwriter plan, that builds a storyboard from the script on the Auteur plan at $39.99 a month. It does not do scheduling or call sheets.

Start from the script, not a blank sheet.

Write your screenplay for free, then turn it into a storyboard when you are ready.
