Key dates

Five deadlines, one flat fee.

FilmFreeway lists five deadlines and no price change between them. The official site gives only the date of the ceremony.
  1. 30 Nov 2026

    First deadline

The first of five FilmFreeway rounds. The listing shows the same $20 fee at every one.

  2. 31 Jan 2027

    Second deadline

Two more follow, on 28 February and 31 March, before the final one.

  3. 30 Apr 2027

    Final deadline

The last FilmFreeway date. With a flat fee, the only good reason to wait is a better cut.

  4. 5 May 2027

    Notification

The date the listing gives. The official site describes the path: Official Selection, Finalist, Nominee, then Award Winner.

  5. 30 May 2027

    Ceremony in Seoul

Opening at 3 pm, screenings from 3:05 pm, awards and red carpet from 5 pm, then a gala party from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Who decides

A jury committee and a short list of ten.

The official site gives the process, not the names. What it tells you is who gets seen on the day.
  • A Jury Committee

The site says submitted works are evaluated by a Jury Committee. Its members are not listed. A filmmaker’s page names the jury presidents of the 2025 edition as Sungju Lim and Keonpyo Hong, which is a secondary source.

  • Four stages

The site describes the path from submission to Official Selection, Finalist, Nominee and Award Winner. Officially selected works are not screened on site. Winners receive a trophy or a certificate.

  • Ten films on screen

The Jury Committee picks 10 films to screen on awards day, from award winners whose directors attend the ceremony. The screening block runs from 3:05 pm to 5 pm.

Three categories

What the listing offers.

FilmFreeway lists three categories. The official site names none on the page that was read. Each card ends on our suggestion.
  • 01

    AI Film

The main category, and the one named in the 2025 winner, Best AI Film Gold Prize.

A finished, genre-led short. Plan for about 11 minutes at most: a 115 minute block for ten films averages that.

  • 02

    AI Music Video

A category in the listing, with no description on the pages that were read.

The listing gives no music rights rule. Use a track you own or have licensed, and ask the secretariat.

  • 03

    AI Movie Director

Listed on FilmFreeway with no description.

The name suggests an award for a director’s work, but nothing says so. Ask what it judges before you pay.

Past winners

What 2024 to 2026 teach.

The official site lists winners for three editions: WAR::The Last Alliance and a film titled 파리로 가는 홀로그램 in 2024, Transformation by Marcel Barsotti in 2025, and Die in Peace by Nyko Oliver in 2026.

  1. 01

Transformation won Best AI Film, Gold Prize, in 2025. It is a 12 minute 39 second science fiction short that Barsotti made in 2024. A film finished the year before can win.

  2. 02

A win is a start. Transformation was first selected by SIAFF in 2025, according to its maker’s page, and then appeared in the AI programme of Short Shorts Film Festival and Asia 2025.

  3. 03

The list is thin on detail. The 2024 entries are titles only and no prize amounts appear. Judge the festival by its room and its credit, not by a purse.

  4. 04

It is a small event. One afternoon and evening, one venue, ten films on screen, a trophy or a certificate. The value is the credit and the network, not money.

A winner’s scene

Voidborn: six shots from the ruins.

Voidborn is the ScreenWeaver team’s film that won an award at SIAFF. This scene is from Voidborn, episode 0: the screenplay page, each shot as a storyboard frame, then as the final image. It shows what a tight, genre-led short looks like when the design is fixed before the footage.

Logline. Every seven years, the Rift opens and swallows the world’s dreams. A swordsman sworn to a blind seer escorts her through its levels, toward a promise they made to a girl left behind.

Screenplay · episode 0 · English subtitles

EXT. RUINS OF THE FIRST LEVEL - NIGHT

Broken towers under a violet sky. SIM, a swordsman in a black cloak, walks beside LADY MARIA, blindfolded, all in white.

SIM

Tell me, Maria... do you think Leia believes we are still alive?

MARIA

We made a promise... the two of us.

A line of white automatons rises from the ruins.

AUTOMATON

The Rift will wait for no one.

SIM

What are machines doing at this level?

One automaton steps forward. Its face is blank.

AUTOMATON

We must return to the surface.

Its eyes ignite red.

SIM

I am Sim, guardian of Lady Maria... and I will proceed with your execution.

Steel meets steel. Lightning runs down the blade.

Voidborn, episode 0, 13 minutes, an anime film by the ScreenWeaver team. It also placed twice at the Mondial Chroma Awards. At 13 minutes it sits above the 11 minute average of a screening block, so a tighter cut would fit it better. Press play to start at this scene.

The script

A 7 minute film for a 115 minute block.

Ten films share the screening block, which is about 11 minutes each. A film of 7 minutes is 7 screenplay pages and 70 to 100 shots of 4 to 6 seconds, short enough to leave room for a longer neighbour.
  1. 0:00 to 0:25

    The hook

A film starts cold in a gala room. Give one striking image and one question.

  2. 0:25 to 1:45

    The hero and the rule

Who we follow and what the world will not allow.

  3. 1:45 to 4:15

    The escalation

Each scene costs the hero more. Cut every shot that only shows a tool.

  4. 4:15 to 6:15

    The clash

The sequence the film promised. Spend your shots and your sound design here.

  5. 6:15 to 7:00

    The afterimage

One last image that stays on screen, then the credits.

The screening is in Seoul and the site states no subtitle rule. Burn English subtitles into a copy and keep a clean master.

Month by month

Seven months to the final deadline.

If you aim at 30 April 2027, you have seven months. The fee is flat, so plan for quality, and decide early whether you can travel: only films whose directors attend are screened.
  1. 01

    October

Choose a category and a length

AI Film is the safest choice, and the secretariat can explain the other two. Fix the length at about 7 minutes.

  2. 02

    November

    Screenplay and storyboard

Write seven pages free in ScreenWeaver. Generate the storyboard from the screenplay and adjust each shot.

  3. 03

    December to February

    Generate the footage

Footage scene by scene with Seedance, led by the storyboard and the references. Put your best shots in the first minute.

  4. 04

    March

    Cut, mix and subtitle

A film played in a cultural complex needs clean sound. Mix it, add English subtitles in a copy and export a master.

  5. 05

    By 30 April

    Submit on FilmFreeway

Pay the flat fee, $20 or $15 for Gold Members according to the listing. Write to mdkorea@naver.com if anything in the listing is unclear.

  6. 06

    5 to 30 May

    Plan the trip

Notification is listed for 5 May and the ceremony is on 30 May. The site says nothing about travel costs, so budget the trip yourself.

Ways to lose a place

Seven traps in a thin rulebook.

The site says little, which is a risk in itself. Ask, and keep the answer.
  • A film that is not AI-generated

The site says the festival honours AI-generated films from around the globe. A film shot with cameras and lightly retouched is not what it describes.

  • No plan to attend

On-site screenings come from award winners whose directors attend. Trophies go to attendees, and others can ask for a PDF certificate.

  • Expecting a screening for an Official Selection

The site says officially selected works are not screened on site. A screening comes with a win, and with attending.

  • Expecting cash

The site lists a trophy or a certificate. No prize money appears on the pages that were read.

  • Trusting numbers that move

The awards announcement calls the festival the 5th SIAFF while the 2027 page calls it the 6th, and a 2025 page places that edition in another venue. Confirm dates and place with the secretariat.

  • A festival with a similar name

FilmFreeway lists other Seoul AI film events, such as the Seoul Global AI Film Festa. Check that you are on the Seoul International AI Film Festival page.

  • Mistaking the ticket for the fee

The official page lists a $40 entrance fee beside the programme, which reads as the price of attending. The FilmFreeway fee for submitting is $20.

Why ScreenWeaver

Seoul rewarded one of ours. Start with the page.

Voidborn, made by the ScreenWeaver team, is an award winner at this festival. The writing and storyboard stages of that way of working are open to you today.
  • A film that already won here

Voidborn took an award at the Seoul International AI Film Festival, and 1st Place Silver and 2nd Place Dreamina at the Mondial Chroma Awards. The scene above, the ruins of the first level, comes from its episode 0.

  • Short, tight, genre-led

Ten films share the block. ScreenWeaver plans by scene, so a 7 minute film keeps one look from the first shot to the last.

  • The same faces, shot after shot

Characters, locations and references are defined once and carry from shot to shot. On a big screen in Gangnam, a changing face is the first thing the room sees.

  • Start free today

The Screenwriter plan is free and has no expiry. Storyboard Beta is $9.99 a month, and the Filmmaker plan, now rolling out, brings the footage.
