How videos are judged

Twelve criteria, no weights.

The terms list twelve criteria and say different categories may emphasise different ones. Nothing is weighted. We group them in six, because a music video is judged on how its parts answer each other.
  • Concept and originality

Creative concept and artistic originality. A song can carry ten different videos. Pick the one only you would make, and say it in one sentence.

  • Music, picture and rhythm

Music and visual connection, plus editing and rhythm. The cut lands on the beat, the movement follows the phrase, a silence is used on purpose.

  • AI innovation and responsible use

Innovation in how AI is used, and responsible AI use. Disclose the tools, clear the music and the faces, and do not pass a synthetic person off as a real one.

  • Human creative direction

The terms ask who directed, edited, performed and made the final decisions. Be ready to name your contribution, whether you wrote the lyrics, chose the takes or built the look.

  • Storytelling and emotion

Visual storytelling and emotional impact. Even without a plot, a video needs a progression: a feeling that is different at the end than at the start.

  • Execution, culture and overall experience

Technical execution, cultural expression and the music video experience as a whole. Clean faces and hands, a mix without clipping, and a culture shown with care and context.

Selection also weighs ethical transparency and fit with the festival's mission. Selection is not guaranteed, and GAIMVA keeps the final say on all programming and awards.

Who decides

A team, a jury and an audience.

No juror is named yet. The terms say the programming team, a jury or appointed reviewers watch every eligible film, and that GAIMVA keeps the right to make all final decisions.
  • Programming team, jury and reviewers

The site describes an international jury of creators, industry leaders and cultural voices, and the terms add that a category can go unawarded if nothing meets the standard.

  • The audience

The Audience Choice Award may be decided by online voting, in-person voting, jury and community voting or another system. GAIMVA can verify, moderate, cancel or adjust the vote in case of fraud.

The categories

Seventeen categories, six families.

You choose the categories, and the festival can move a video to a better fit. Best AI Music Video needs at least two category entries, so plan a second angle on the same video.
  • 01

    Best AI Music Video

The headline award. Festhome says you must enter at least two categories to be eligible for it.

Pair it with the category your strongest idea belongs to, such as narrative or generative visuals, so both entries tell the same story about the video.

  • 02

Narrative and Director / AI Vision

Best Narrative AI Music Video and Best Director / AI Vision.

Let the song's structure be the plot: a situation in verse one, a turn on the chorus, a last image on the final chorus. Three minutes is enough for a whole story.

  • 03

    Best Human + AI Collaboration

Videos that mix human creation and AI, such as a recorded performance, a drawn element or a live vocal with generated visuals.

Make the human share visible and name it. The terms ask you to identify the human creative contribution anyway.

  • 04

    Visuals, Editing and Fashion

Best Visual Effects / Generative Visuals, Best Editing / AI Rhythm and Best AI Fashion Concept.

Cut on the bar line, and treat costume as a concept, not decoration. One costume idea that returns across ten shots is a fashion entry.

  • 05

    Music and Sound

Best AI Original Song, Best Human Original Song, Best Human Voice and Best Instrumental.

These categories judge the music itself, and human songs are welcome. If the track is yours, entering it again here costs one more fee and adds a chance.

  • 06

Vertical, student, Latin or global, tools

Best Social / Vertical, Best Student, Best Latin / Global, Best AI Tool Innovation, Audience Choice and a special Best AI Short Film category, up to 15 minutes.

Vertical formats are accepted, so a 9:16 recut of the same video is a cheap second entry. A student entry needs proof of enrolment if the festival asks.

From script to screen

Voidborn: a scene cut for rhythm.

Voidborn, episode 0, the anime action episode the ScreenWeaver team made with Seedance, supplies a scene built like a music video sequence: a wide establishing shot, a close-up that lands on a beat, then a lightning clash for the chorus. Six shots, one location, a visible rhythm.

Logline. Every seven years, the Rift opens and swallows the world’s dreams. A swordsman sworn to a blind seer escorts her through its levels, toward a promise they made to a girl left behind.

Screenplay · episode 0 · English subtitles

EXT. RUINS OF THE FIRST LEVEL - NIGHT

Broken towers under a violet sky. SIM, a swordsman in a black cloak, walks beside LADY MARIA, blindfolded, all in white.

SIM

Tell me, Maria... do you think Leia believes we are still alive?

MARIA

We made a promise... the two of us.

A line of white automatons rises from the ruins.

AUTOMATON

The Rift will wait for no one.

SIM

What are machines doing at this level?

One automaton steps forward. Its face is blank.

AUTOMATON

We must return to the surface.

Its eyes ignite red.

SIM

I am Sim, guardian of Lady Maria... and I will proceed with your execution.

Steel meets steel. Lightning runs down the blade.

This is Voidborn, episode 0, 13 minutes long, which took 1st Place Silver and 2nd Place Dreamina at the Mondial Chroma Awards and an award at the Seoul International AI Film Festival. The red-eyed automaton close-up and the clash after it are cut points a music editor would hit. The player starts at the ruins, around 7 min in.

The script

A 3 minute music video in five movements.

The limit is eight minutes, but most songs and most budgets sit near three. That is about 45 to 60 shots, since music videos cut faster than films, at 3 to 4 seconds a shot.
  1. 0:00 to 0:15

    The hook

The image that belongs to the song. It appears again at the end.

  2. 0:15 to 0:55

    Verse one

The performer and the world. Slower cuts, wider frames.

  3. 0:55 to 1:40

    The chorus

The video opens up. Color, movement and scale go up, and the cuts speed up.

  4. 1:40 to 2:30

    Verse two and the bridge

The turn. Something changes in the world or in the performer, and the rhythm drops for a moment.

  5. 2:30 to 3:00

    The final chorus

The biggest image, then the hook again, changed.

Cut on the bar line and generate each shot a little longer than its slot, so the edit can land on the beat. Lock the song first: everything else follows its length.

Week by week

From the song to the submit button.

Thirteen weeks to 1 January 2027. The song comes first, because music rights decide whether the video can enter at all.
  1. 01

    1 to 14 October

    The song and its clearance

Choose or make the song, and write down who owns the lyrics, the recording and the vocal. Get permission in writing before you spend a day on pictures.

  2. 02

    15 to 28 October

    Treatment and screenplay

One page with the concept, the look and the story. Then a screenplay of the video, bar by bar, written for free in ScreenWeaver.

  3. 03

    29 October to 18 November

    Storyboard and references

Generate the storyboard from the screenplay, one frame for every beat that matters. Approve the performer's reference and the look once, so both hold.

  4. 04

    19 November to 12 December

    Generate the shots

Use any AI tool, since GAIMVA names none. Write down each tool and model as you go. You will have to disclose them.

  5. 05

    13 to 24 December

    Edit to the rhythm

Cut on the beat, check the sync and prepare a vertical cut if you want the social category.

  6. 06

    By 1 January 2027

    Choose categories and submit

Pick at least two categories to reach Best AI Music Video, at $40 each. Add a working screener link, and keep its password valid until judging ends.

Disqualification traps

Seven ways to be thrown out.

The terms are long and the sanctions are explicit. A disqualification can come before or after selection and even after awards.
  • Unlicensed music

Using copyrighted songs, samples, vocals or recordings without permission can lead to disqualification. A video made entirely with AI still needs rights to the track.

  • A voice or face without consent

Any AI-generated or AI-altered voice, face, body or digital replica of a real person, living or dead, needs consent or legal authorisation. Deepfake-style recreations of singers are the classic mistake.

  • Undisclosed AI

You must disclose the major AI tools, platforms, models or workflows. Missing or false disclosure is grounds for disqualification at any stage.

  • One category only

To be eligible for Best AI Music Video, you must submit to at least two categories. At $40 each, count $80 in your budget.

  • A video that is too long

Up to 8 minutes in most categories, and 15 only for the special Best AI Short Film category. Check which clock applies to you.

  • AI as a finishing touch

Basic color correction, upscaling or subtitles alone may not qualify. AI has to play a meaningful creative role in picture, sound, voice or direction.

  • A dead link

Entries need a working online screener. If the link or password stops working and is not fixed in time, the submission can be disqualified. Fees are not refunded.

Why ScreenWeaver

A music video is a storyboard first.

ScreenWeaver also serves music videos: the screenplay, the storyboard and the footage sit in one connected project, with the song's timeline as the spine.
  • One frame for every beat

The storyboard is generated from your screenplay, and each frame is linked to a scene and a beat. A music video is exactly this: a grid of moments tied to a timeline.

  • The same performer in every shot

Approved references follow every shot, so a singer does not change face between the verse and the chorus.

  • Horizontal and vertical from one project

ScreenWeaver handles 9:16 as well as widescreen, which suits the Best Social / Vertical category. One storyboard can feed two cuts.

  • Any tool, any song

GAIMVA accepts AI songs, human songs and licensed music. ScreenWeaver builds the picture, with footage pipelines on Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 rolling out with the Filmmaker plan. Writing is free today.

Real productions

International festival-recognized films have been written and produced with ScreenWeaver.

ScreenWeaver is already being used as a creative workspace for real AI film productions, from cinematic shorts to animated series pilots selected, nominated, and awarded by international festivals.

FAQ

GAIMVA, your questions

How do you win the Global AI Music Video Awards?

Can I make my music video for GAIMVA with ScreenWeaver?
GAIMVA imposes no AI tool. In ScreenWeaver you write and storyboard the video today, and shots made with Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 are rolling out with the Filmmaker plan. List every tool you used in the disclosure.
How much does it cost?
Fees are per category: $20 early, $30 standard and $40 until 1 January 2027, with about 8% off if you pay with Festhome credits. Fees are not refunded, even if the video is not selected.
Do I need the rights to the music?
Yes. You confirm you hold the rights to music, lyrics, recordings, voices and likeness. You can use original human songs, AI-generated songs, licensed music, public domain music or music used with written permission.
Where is the ceremony?
Not confirmed on the pages we read. The festival says each edition takes place in a different country, and the first host city is still to be announced. Festhome lists the 24 April 2027 ceremony in North Hollywood.
Is there a cash prize?
Festhome lists $1,000 in cash prizes in total. The terms add digital laurels, certificates, trophies, plaques or online recognition, depending on the edition. A category can go unawarded.
Can I submit a vertical video?
Yes. Vertical and social formats are accepted, and a Best Social / Vertical AI Music Video category exists. You can also enter the same video in several categories.
Does the video have to be new?
No premiere is required. The video may have been shown online, at other festivals or on social media, but you must say whether it has already been released. Works in progress are accepted only if clearly marked and close to final.
