Flick (flick.art) is an AI filmmaking canvas from a Y Combinator startup that raised a $6 million seed round in May 2026, with GV and True Ventures among the investors. You generate, connect and edit shots as nodes, with plans from $5 a month. ScreenWeaver starts one step earlier, from the screenplay: free to write, then turned into a storyboard and AI video.
The verdict: pick Flick if you start from an idea and want to play with images and clips on a canvas. Pick ScreenWeaver if you start from a script and want the film to follow it scene by scene.
Every Flick fact below comes from flick.art (home page, pricing, about and comparison pages), the company's press releases and True Ventures' investment note, all read on 6 November 2026.
What Flick is
Flick calls itself "an AI filmmaking platform for storytellers to script, generate, and edit cinematic films", all on one canvas. The tagline is "We Handle AI. You Direct Films." It was founded in 2025 by Zoey Zhang, a filmmaker whose AI films have been recognised at more than 30 international festivals, and Ray Wang, an early Instagram engineer who worked on the first version of Instagram Stories.
How it works, from its own pages:
- A node canvas. "Scripts, scenes, characters, visuals, and edits" sit on an infinite canvas as connected nodes. True Ventures sums it up as "Figma + Cursor, for filmmaking".
- Several video models in one place. Flick's comparison page says it "runs Kling, Seedance, and Veo side by side on one canvas", with Nano Banana Pro for images, and you assign each shot node to the model you prefer.
- Consistency tools. A character reference locks a face from one image, and Flick lists "over 1K visual styles" or your own.
- An AI agent and a video editor. An assistant helps you ideate, and a timeline editor lets you cut and export the final film from the canvas.
- Teams. Flick Teams shares credits and projects on one canvas.
Prices, as listed on flick.art in November 2026: every account gets 300 free credits. Casual is $5 a month (500 credits, about 2 minutes of video), Standard $20 (2,500 credits, about 10 minutes), Pro $45 as a limited offer instead of $60 (8,000 credits, about 33 minutes) and Studio from $120 (20,000 credits, up to $600 for 100,000). Annual billing saves 20%.
Two things the funding headlines skip. First, Flick is not Fliki, the text-to-video tool with a near-identical name: different company, different product. Second, Flick builds a community around the tool: its Filmmaker Residency is a free two-month program, and its summer 2026 cohort produced 17 short films, shown on Flick's own "Flick TV".

What ScreenWeaver does that Flick does not

A real screenplay. Flick puts "script notes" on its canvas. We found no screenplay editor, no industry format and no Final Draft import on its pages. ScreenWeaver gives you a full script editor on the free Screenwriter plan, with an outline builder and imports and exports to .fdx and PDF. If you already use Final Draft, the Final Draft alternative page shows how a script moves over.
A storyboard that follows the script. On the Auteur plan ScreenWeaver writes the shooting script and generates the storyboard from your screenplay, scene by scene, with framing, movement and duration per shot. On Flick you build that structure yourself, node by node. Read how it works on the AI storyboard generator page.
The same models, chosen per shot. Both tools run Kling, Seedance and Veo. ScreenWeaver adds MiniMax H3 and Grok Imagine Video 1.5 on the same video node, so a chase and a dialogue scene can use different models. The Kling alternative page lists them.
Teams with roles. The Studio plan, $149.99 a month with 25,000 credits, adds real-time collaboration, unlimited seats and Owner, Editor and Viewer permissions.

Start FreeWhat Flick does better
Flick is cheaper to try: 300 free credits and a $5 plan, where ScreenWeaver's AI pipeline starts at $39.99. Its built-in video editor and timeline let you cut the final film where you generated it. Its 1,000+ visual styles help when you have no art direction yet. And its residency gives new AI filmmakers mentoring, credits and a festival-ready short, which no tool feature can replace. If you think in images first and write later, Flick fits that habit.
Which one fits you?
- You have an idea and want to explore looks: start on Flick's free credits.
- You have a screenplay, or want to write one: ScreenWeaver keeps every shot tied to its scene, so rewrites flow into the board. See the plans and credits.
- You are making a short for a festival: write in ScreenWeaver, board it, time the animatic, then generate. The how to make an AI film guide walks through each step, and the AI video cost calculator estimates the budget first.

FAQ
Is Flick free? Flick gives 300 free credits to every new account, plus credits for joining its Discord or referring friends. Paid plans start at $5 a month (Casual), with 20% off on yearly billing.
Is Flick the same as Fliki? No. Flick (flick.art) is an AI filmmaking canvas founded by Zoey Zhang and Ray Wang. Fliki is a separate text-to-video product from another company.
Who is behind Flick? FlickArt, Inc., a Y Combinator company. Its $6 million seed round, announced on 14 May 2026, came from True Ventures, GV, Y Combinator, Lightspeed, Formosa Capital, Pioneer Fund, Olive Tree Capital and N1.
Is Flick better than ScreenWeaver? For free-form visual exploration on a canvas, Flick is a strong choice. For a film that follows a written screenplay, with a storyboard generated from it, ScreenWeaver does more of the work.
Can I write a screenplay in Flick? Flick's pages mention scripts as nodes and script notes, not a formatted screenplay editor. ScreenWeaver's editor is free and exports to PDF and Final Draft.
