Celtx sells five paid routes: Writer at €14.99 a month, Writer Pro at €24.99, Team from €50.99 for three seats, Education from €600 a year for ten seats, and a Student plan at 79.99 billed yearly, currency unclear. Annual billing takes 25% off the first three. The sticker price is the easy part. The add-ons are what move the budget.
That is where most people misread the page. Two of the four capability blocks Celtx advertises are marked "Optional Add-on" on the plans where you would most expect them, and Celtx does not publish what those add-ons cost. Currency changes the deal depending on where you sit. The page above is denominated in euro and says so. When we captured the same page for our Celtx review on 25 August, the figures carried a dollar sign and the identical numerals: 14.99, 24.99, 50.99. Celtx swaps the symbol without recalculating. A euro has not been worth a dollar for a long time, so the figure you see is not a conversion of the other one, and the plan costs more in real terms on the euro side.
Worth knowing before you commit to a year: the discount is real, but so is the lock-in. Celtx's own cancellation article says you keep paid access to the end of the period you already paid for, and it does not offer a refund for the unused months.
The Team curve is not a per-seat price
Celtx presents Team as a single price with a seat dropdown, which hides the actual shape of the deal. We pulled every value from 3 to 15 seats. The marginal cost of a seat changes once, and not where you would guess.

Three seats is the floor and it is priced at €12.75 each. Seats four and five cost €9.56 a month. From the sixth seat onward, every additional person costs €8.25 a month and the price never moves again through fifteen.
So the sixth seat is cheaper than the fifth. If you are a five-person team arguing about whether to buy a licence for the producer who only opens the call sheet twice a week, that sixth seat is the least expensive one you will ever add to the account, and it drops your blended per-seat cost at the same time.
The other reading of that table is less flattering. A two-person writing partnership cannot buy Team. The floor is three, so a duo pays for a seat nobody uses, or buys two Writer Pro subscriptions at €37.48 a month and gives up the shared production planning that made Team attractive.
Education is priced in public, and the brackets reward rounding up
Our earlier review described Education as a sales quote. That is no longer accurate: the page now publishes a figure for every bracket from 10 to 700 seats, and only above 700 does it send you to sales.

Read the jumps rather than the rows. Going from 40 seats to 50 adds ten students for €200, which works out at €20 each against the €45 per seat you are paying at the 40 mark. Any department sitting a few students under a bracket is better off buying the bracket. The same logic runs the whole ladder: 15 to 20 seats costs €40 a head, 30 to 40 costs €30 a head, 200 to 300 costs €15 a head.

That screenshot shows something Celtx should fix. Education is quoted at €600 and the footer confirms euro, while the Student card next to it reads $79.99. One of those two symbols is wrong, and the page gives you no way to tell which. If you are buying the Student plan from outside the United States, check the figure at the payment step rather than trusting the card. Adobe Premiere Pro plugin access, meanwhile, is marked unavailable on Free, Education and Student alike. The Student card sells itself as Writer Pro plus Production Planning Tools, and Writer Pro does include the Premiere plugin, so the student version is not quite the full Writer Pro feature set.

Celtx groups its capabilities into four blocks, and two of them are sold separately on the cheaper plans.

Writer Pro at €18.74 a month still treats the entire production planning block as an optional extra. If the reason you looked at Celtx in the first place was breakdowns and call sheets, the honest entry price is Team at €38.24 a month for three seats, not Writer Pro.
And Celtx does not publish what the add-ons cost. The pricing page marks the rows "Optional Add-on" with no figure attached, and searching the help centre for add-on pricing returns support articles about adding studio members, not a price list. You find out at checkout. For a solo writer who wants to budget before signing up, that is a real gap, and it is the same pattern we mapped in the hidden costs of free screenwriting software.
What you actually keep if you stop paying
Celtx documents the billing half of this clearly. You cancel from Management, then Plan, then Cancel Plan under Review Your Billing. Payment is taken in advance, so you stay a paid user until the end of the period you already bought, and Celtx calls that stretch Pending Cancellation. During it you can restart and your old billing schedule resumes.
What the cancellation article does not say is what happens to your work once that period ends. The Free plan is capped at one project. If you are running eight projects on Writer Pro and let the subscription lapse, Celtx's own documentation does not tell you which one survives the cap or in what state the others sit.
Treat that silence as the instruction. Export before the pending period closes, not after. A script breakdown checklist is a cheap way to confirm you have pulled everything out of a project that mattered, and our pre-production page covers rebuilding the schedule side elsewhere.
Which plan fits
- You write alone and nothing else. Free handles one project. Writer at €11.24 billed yearly buys three projects, comments and custom headers.
- You write episodic or need revision colours. Writer Pro. Episodic scripts, revision mode, watermarking and review and approval all sit above the Writer line, and none of them is an add-on.
- You break down and schedule what you write. Team. It is the cheapest plan where production planning is included rather than sold on, and the three-seat floor costs €458.88 a year.
- You are a student with a school email. The Student plan, with the currency caveat above. Nothing else in the lineup gets you the production tools for double figures.
- You teach. Education, and buy the next bracket up from what you need.
- You are two people. Nothing here fits well. Two Writer Pro seats cost €37.48 a month and still leave production planning as an add-on, which lands 76 cents under the three-seat Team price that includes it.
