0:04Let's take a tour of the place where you'll spend this whole course – the Script tab. Five minutes from now, you'll know where everything is.

0:12At the top, the header. On the left, your project's name and the project menu, where you switch projects, create a new one and open the project's settings. In the middle, the tabs. Script is part one – the writing. Storyboard and the tabs after it are the next parts of the pipeline, for later. And on the right, the AI button, which opens the AI centre.

0:37On the left, the sidebar. This is your navigation hub. From top to bottom, the outline view and the script view, which you switch on or off. Your story elements, characters, places and objects, import slash export, and the version history.

0:54In the middle, the page. It looks like a real screenplay page because it is one. Courier 12 point. Industry margins and every line placed exactly where a professional reader expects it. You never set a margin or press the space bar to centre a name. You choose an element and the page does the layout.

1:14Those elements live in the toolbar at the bottom of the page. Scene, Action, Character, Dialogue, Parenthetical, Transition and Shot are the seven screenplay elements. Next to them, the structure elements. Episode, Act, Sequence and Story Beat. And the eye icon shows or hides the outline lines, the short notes that describe each part of your structure.

1:37Above the page, when you switch it on, the outline view. It shows your structure as rows of cards. Episodes, Acts, Sequences, Story Beats and Scenes. You can drag them around, label them and attach notes, images or links. We'll spend a whole section there.

1:55Finally, the AI centre. Click the AI button in the header. On the left, your generations. On the right, an assistant that knows your script. You can ask it to brainstorm, to write a scene, to rewrite a line or to import a script you already have. It edits the script directly and every change it makes is saved in the version history.

2:17Two more things that make the writing room comfortable. Everything you type is saved automatically, so there's no save button to think about. And notes, images and story elements open in floating windows that you can drag by their title bar and resize from their edges, so your references stay next to the page while you write.

2:37If you ever get lost, the tutorial that welcomed you on your first visit can be replayed at any time from your profile menu in the top right corner.

2:46That's the whole writing room. A header, a sidebar, a page, a toolbar, an outline and an assistant. In the next lecture, we create the project for the night ferry.
