Maya. 0:04The blank page is hard because every direction is possible. An AI assistant is very good at exactly that problem, exploring a dozen directions in a minute. So you can choose, like a writer.
0:17Start with a seed, not a request for a finished story. Here's mine. An old ferryman crosses a lake at night. He never takes passengers after midnight. Tonight, someone begs him to cross. Then the constraints. Give me ten log lines for a five -minute short film with two characters. Vary the genre and the twist. One sentence each.
0:40Read the answers as a map, not a menu. Some are generic. A ghost, a dream, a murder. That's the average of everything the model has read. Others are interesting. Number seven. The passenger is his daughter, whom he hasn't seen in years. That's a twist you can show on screen, with an object, without explanation.
1:02Now go deeper, with follow -up questions. Give me five ways she could prove who she is, without saying it. The answers? She knows a nickname. She sings a song. She fixes the engine the way he taught her. She carries a matching object. The last two become our midpoint, and our plot point two. The engine, and the compass.
1:23Then ask for structure. Here's my log line. Give me seven story beats, using the labels opening, inciting incident, plot point one, midpoint, low point, plot point two, and resolution. You get a skeleton in seconds, ready to compare with the outline you built yourself.
1:43And ask for criticism. This is the most underused question in AI writing. What's the weakest beat of this outline, and why? The assistant pointed out that the low point was passive. Elias was just worried. So we made it active. He demands, who are you? And she refuses to answer.
2:02Brainstorm characters, too. Ask, give me five possible backstories for Elias that would explain why he never sails after midnight. One answer was perfect. The night his daughter left, she took the last ferry. After midnight. We never say it in the film. But knowing it changes how we write every one of his lines.
2:22And names. Names carry a lot. Ask for ten names for an old ferryman. And ten for his daughter. With a short reason for each. Elias came from that list. Old. Simple. A little biblical. Maya. Short. Modern. Easy to call across the water.
2:47Remember, the assistant is a sparring partner. You accept, twist, or throw away. The best ideas of the night fairy came from rewriting the assistant's answers, not from copying them.
3:01Your exercise. Write your seed. Ask for ten log lines. Choose one. Ask five follow -up questions. Ask the assistant to criticize your outline. Next, writing and rewriting scenes with AI. Bye. Bye
